The Terrace House

The Terrace House was built in 1958 for the Earle Smith jewelry family, and has been incredibly preserved and filled with authentic mid-century furnishings, decor and art. It is an architectural marvel that retains almost all of its original materials, from the gleaming wood-paneled walls to the vintage tiles and countertops.

The home's 3,000 square feet offers three spacious guest rooms with en-suite bathrooms, two living areas and a full kitchen. The entire house is a true stunner: vaulted ceilings, floor-to-ceiling windows, cove lighting with push-button light switches, original light fixtures and hardware, colorful vintage tiles, scores of craftsman built-ins, even an intercom system...all in immaculate and original condition.

The Loft House

The Loft House next door was also built in the late 1950s, by the McDaniel family. The upstairs loft was once the garage apartment of the original house, as a place for J.E. McDaniel and his cronies to drink whiskey, smoke cigars, and discuss running the town. Remodeled down to the studs, the finish-out is new, while the mid-century aestethic was kept in both design and furnishings.

Upstairs is a two bedroom, one bath loft with a full kitchen and spacious living room. Gleaming hardwood floors, floor-to-ceiling windows of the amazing hilltop views over Coleman, and the bright airiness give this apartment a lofty feel. The downstairs offers another private one-bedroom guest suite, decorated in a Golden Age of Hollywood theme, with a sitting area, private bathroom, and mini-kitchenette (microwave, coffeemaker, mini-fridge).

"This home is OUTSTANDING! This is like a time capsule home but has amenities like crazy. We rented all of Shelley’s properties to host my son’s graduation. The kitchen was wonderful and everything one would need to throw a large dinner party or a smaller intimate gathering. We had 17 people in the dining area and it wasn’t crowded. All the furnishings are comfortable and high quality. The focus on the 60’s era was so entertaining to just go from room to room and enjoy it all. The house feels secluded and is quiet. Highly recommend renting this home from Shelley. The house is made for family gatherings but also allows for privacy when needed in the beautiful huge bedrooms."

"An absolute treasure in Coleman! The nostalgic decor and themed rooms were completely charming. The place was very clean and stocked with the essentials needed to make your stay very comfortable. And that view of the lights in Coleman in the evening was completely amazing! I highly recommend!"

"We had a great family trip. Plenty of room for the entire family, very clean, comfortable beds, bathrooms for each bedroom, basics for cooking in the kitchen. Would definitely stay here again. Shelley was a fantastic host with great communication. And such a cool vibe to this mid century modern house."

"Terrace House is a terrific place for a large group — in this case it was the gathering place for family and friends to celebrate my 70th birthday. The house has a very wonderful retro design. It is big and spacious enough to have lots of people for a meal. The kitchen has plenty of equipment to prepare meals. Sitting on either patio is very pleasant and the views are wonderful. Thank you for a really great birthday weekend!"
