What rooms and properties are at Stardust Retreat?

Stardust Retreat is comprised of two separate houses that are next door to each other, set on more than three heavily treed, rolling acres on a hilltop overlooking Coleman. We have several options for you to choose from:

  • Atomic Ranch House. With this option, you are booking the whole 3 bedroom, 3.5 bath Atomic Ranch House (formerly known as Terrace House) for your exclusive use. The entire property—including the kitchen, two living rooms, garage and terraces—is included with your booking. No other guests would be at the house during your stay.

  • Individual suite at Atomic Ranch House. There are three individual guest suites, each with their own private en-suite bathroom, in the Terrace House: Sinatra, Monroe and Hemingway. We sometimes book these suites individually, though not during high season (spring, fall and holidays). You can make a request on the Atomic Ranch House page.
  • The Loft. This is the 2 bedroom, 1 bath Loft that is the entire second level of the second house on the property. You would have exclusive, private use of the whole upper floor with two bedrooms, one bath, full kitchen and living room.

  • Hollywood Glam Suite. This is the downstairs level of the Loft, with its own separate and private entrance. The Hollywood Suite is one large, open apartment with a sitting area, kitchenette and private en-suite bathroom. You have exclusive use of the apartment.

  • Book the entire retreat. You also have the option of booking the whole Stardust Retreat: both houses, for a total of 6 king bedrooms and 5.5 bathrooms. This gives you full, private and exclusive use of the entire property and both houses during your stay. This is perfect for large families, reunions, special occasions, groups of friends, or small retreats. The retreat accommodates 12 adults (with 2 in each bedroom). We also have a twin rollaway bed, a crib, and a pack-and-play available for children. The maximum number of overnight guests is 15.

What if I need help making a reservation?

We would be happy to create the booking for you and send you a link where you can complete your payment information and confirm your reservation. Simply send us a message here with your dates and the property you’d like to book.

Can I feel secure about booking online with you?

Of course! First of all, our website has the highest level of SSL security, and all of our booking/payment links are secure.

Also, if you weren’t already familiar with Stardust have any concerns about booking online with an unknown entity — we are known, committed members of the small business community in Coleman, having done business here for 5 years. We are also fully vetted members of:

    • Coleman County Chamber of Commerce
    • Texas Hotel & Lodging Association
    • Texas Bed and Breakfast Association
    • Airbnb Superhosts
    • VRBO Premier Hosts
      Are you child-friendly?

Of course! We love welcoming our young guests, and Stardust Retreat is perfectly set up for a family vacation. Each house has a good assortment of both indoor games, as well as outdoor recreation such as cornhole, giant Jenga, connect-four, ladderball, etc. There is also a disk swing, chair hammock swing, and double hammock. Our nearly four acres provide plenty of room for kids (and adults!) to play.

Do you have cribs or extra beds for children?

There is an additional twin-size rollaway bed (with thick, comfy mattress) and a baby crib available for a child or additional guest. We also have a pack-and-play. PLEASE REQUEST ANY OF THESE THINGS BEFORE YOUR STAY.

Do you have a minimum stay requirement?

On weekends, yes. When booking a Friday or Saturday night we require a 2-night minimum, and during some holidays as well.

During the weeknights (Sunday through Thursday nights), we require only a one-night minimum stay, except during major holidays and events.

      Do you have parking?

      Yes, loads of it!

The Atomic Ranch House offers an open 2-car garage, with plenty of additional parking in the driveway, and four parking spaces in front of the house.

The Loft and Hollywood Suites at the house next door offer parking spaces for several cars in front of the house, and several parking spaces right next to the house. There’s also a large circular driveway which offers plenty of parking for boats, ATVs, trailers or even campers/RVs (no hook-ups available) — with easy pull-around capability without having to back up.

It is possible to plug your boat or ATV in overnight for charging, although we ask you to request permission first and there may be a small surcharge for this depending on how much use (utilities are very expensive here). Please note that we do not offer hook-ups (electric, water or sewer) for RVs or campers.

Do you have any accessible features?

We do not have any official, ADA-compliant accessible features, and no accommodations have been made to the homes in terms of wheelchair accessibility.

However, the Hollywood Suite in particular should have ease of wheelchair access, as it’s ground level right next to the parking, with double french doors and no steps whatsoever. Please note that the doorway into the bathroom is standard size.

The Atomic Ranch House has steps leading up to the front door, however from the garage the entrance is accessible without any steps at all. There are no steps inside the house, and all hard floors (concrete or tile). So the Atomic Ranch House is able to be enjoyed without the requirement of climbing steps of any sort.

Please note that the Loft is the second level of that home, and as such it is required to climb one flight of stairs to reach it.

      Do you have gift cards?

      Policies FAQ

      What's your cancellation policy?

A full refund is given (less $50 cancellation fee) if cancellation occurs more than 60 days before arrival. Guest receives 50% (less cancellation fee) if cancellation occurs more than 30 days before arrival. No refunds within 30 days of arrival.

We try to be fair and accommodating to all our guests. Please understand that we are a very small, independently run property, and cancellations impact us greatly (especially at the last minute).

If you have to cancel, we will try our best to re-book the rooms and always work with our guests on refunding what we can based on being able to re-book. It is not our aim to impose a penalty for cancellation or keep your money, we simply cannot afford to refund for cancelled reservations that we can’t book to another guest.

There are no refunds for late check-in or early departure. Thank you for understanding.

      Do you require a deposit?

Nope. Deposits are a pain for both guests and property administration, and our guests tell us they don’t like them!

Instead, we implement a Damage Protection Policy for each booking that covers any accidents or breakage. This policy is automatically included with your reservation at no charge to you — so you don’t have to worry about deposit payments and refunds or holds on your credit card!

Please note that if there is damage in excess of what the protection policy covers, you are still responsible for this. If you have any questions, please contact us.

      Do you accept pets?
Yes! You MUST inquire first and provide us with information about your pet(s) before booking. We need to know:
      • Breed
      • Age
      • Size
      • Are they current on all shots?
We generally allow a maximum of two pets per reservation, but inquire if you have a special situation. We require a pet fee of $50 per pet (that’s a one-time, non-refundable fee per stay), and a signed pet waiver.
Our general rules for pets is that they are not allowed on the furniture, they absolutely must be housebroken, and they are not allowed to free-roam the house while you are not there (in other words, if they’re left in the house while you go out, they must be crated).

And it goes without saying that our guests are responsible for any damage or extra deep cleaning that may be required due to a pet.

We reserve the right to accept or refuse any pet on a case by case basis. If you are unsure, make an inquiry and ask about your pet first.

      Is smoking allowed?

Absolutely no smoking is allowed inside any room or house at Stardust Retreat! This includes vaping/e-cigarettes. You may smoke outside, but we ask you to be respectful of other guests and please pick up and dispose of your trash. If any evidence of smoking is found, guest will be charged an additional $150 cleaning fee plus any damages from smoke or burn marks.

      What are your cleaning fees?

We have the following cleaning fees, all of which are paid 100% to our cleaning and make-ready professional. We pay fair wages to our people.

      • Entire Retreat: $250

      • Atomic Ranch House: $150

      • Loft: $75

      • Hollywood: $40

Can I have other people over during my stay?

Absolutely NO unauthorized guests, events, parties or gatherings. The only people allowed to be on the premises during your stay are the registered, authorized guests on the reservation at time of booking, unless otherwise approved beforehand.

We understand that many of our guests may have friends or family in the area that they would like to visit with at the property. A few temporary visitors may be allowed on a case-by-case basis (no more than 4) when renting the entire house or retreat — you MUST notify us and obtain prior approval for ANY unregistered people coming to the property. If you wish to have any visitors who are not registered guests, please contact me for prior approval.

We also offer Stardust Retreat as a venue rental for small events and gatherings (maximum 50 people on the entire retreat). This is a SEPARATE booking that must be approved and registered, with a Event Venue Booking fee paid and rental agreement signed. Please understand that our insurance does not allow for any unauthorized guests or gatherings without this, and our legal agreements with booking platforms such as Airbnb and VRBO prohibit this. We would be happy to discuss hosting your small event at Stardust Retreat under this event booking policy — please contact us to discuss.

What happens if there's bad weather or I can't make it?

We DO NOT give refunds for inclement weather, travel advisories or personal reasons for cancellations. If you have a concern about any issue affecting your trip, we suggest you purchase travel insurance. The only exception to this is if a storm or act of nature renders the property uninhabitable (i.e. the electricity goes out).

      What is your anti-discrimination policy?

We absolutely do not discriminate against anyone based on race, gender, ethnicity, ability or sexual orientation. We have a 100% welcome-to-all policy, and strongly believe in equality & inclusion for all.

      The Area

What's Coleman like—what's there to do?

Coleman is a charming and friendly small town that makes for the perfect Hill Country / West Texas getaway. It’s undergoing a renaissance with a wine bar (second on the way), fantastic restaurants and unique boutique stores (seriously, the dining and shopping have been written up in magazines, including Texas Monthly). It’s also home to a fab mid-century modern store with high-quality pieces and a vintage vinyl shop, and longtime standbys like the Owl Drugstore, with its old-fashioned soda fountain (the second oldest in Texas, serving since 1923) and the best burgers around! The main street, Commercial Avenue, is only two minutes down the road from Stardust.

Nearby outdoor recreation and sportsmanship is plentiful, with 6 major lakes including O.H. Ivie, Hord’s Creek, & Lake Brownwood State Park. The area is known as the “Hunting Capital of Texas.”

For more information about the area, visit our Location page and check out our Guest Guidebook.

Is there wildlife around Stardust Retreat?

Yep! The main wildlife that’s active and often seen are deer and birds. Families of deer live in the bordering woods, and often stroll across the property and graze (that’s why we don’t mow all the areas, to allow for wildflowers and grazing).

All sorts of birds make their homes here, including hawks, cardinals, sparrows, dove and more.  Other wildlife that is sometimes spotted include red foxes, gray foxes, and raccoons.

We provide high-quality binoculars in both houses for our guests’ use to better enjoy the wildlife!
